Shenzhen, Singapore 22nd May 2008: Shenzhen based Jade Cargo International and Singapore based Jett8 Airlines Cargo have entered into a one year wet lease transaction for one B747-400ER freighter. The agreement was signed middle of May and is subject to regulatory approval. The aircraft will operate on behalf of Jett8 Airlines Cargo once Jade Cargo International has completed its relief operations to the disaster areas of Myanmar and of Sichuan Province.
The aircraft will be deployed by Jett8 Airlines Cargo initially on routes from Singapore to Amsterdam, Malmoe, Bangalore, Chennai and Hong Kong. Beside this new aircraft in the fleet of Jett8 Cargo Airlines, the only Singaporean all cargo carrier operates two B747-200F to various European, Middle Eastern and Asian destinations. Jett8 is a privately owned airline with strategic alliance partnership with Nippon Cargo Airlines and NYK Line. This partnership covers cooperation in joint sales and marketing, ground and engineering support and equipment and crew training.
Jade Cargo International has a total fleet of six B747-400ERF aircraft which were delivered between July 2006 and February 2008. The airline has a network covering all major markets in China, North Asia and Europe. Jade Cargo International is a joint venture of Shenzhen Airlines (51%), Lufthansa Cargo (25%) and the German development bank DEG (24%).
Chief Executive Officer of Jade Cargo International, Captain Kay Kratky explains: “The agreement enables Jade Cargo International to smoothly ramp up the own production after the difficult year 2007. It gives us flexibility and stability at the same time.”
Chief Executive Officer of Jett8 Airlines Cargo, Captain Louis H. K. Tan added: “The new B747-400ERF of Jade Cargo International is starting a new phase of development for our company. The B747-400ERF is a fuel efficient aircraft and in the current environment, an ideal enhancement of our own fleet. We are satisfied that we entered into the transaction with Jade Cargo International as it enables us to start a smooth B747-400 fleet rollover within the next two years.
