JADE CARGO INTERNATIONAL OPERATES HUMANITARIAN RELIEF FLIGHTS TO SICHUAN EARTHQUAKE AREA IN WESTERN CHINA
On 13th May 2008, twenty four hours after a devastating earthquake has hit Sichuan and neighboring provinces, a Boeing 747-400ER freighter of Jade Cargo International left Shenzhen to be ferried to Tianjin Binhai International Airport.
In Tianjin, more than 100 tons of relief material was loaded with destination Chengdu Airport. This flight was the first out of a series of humanitarian relief flights to the Sichuan Province.
Within very few hours after the relief operation to Myanmar, the Jade Cargo International organization initiated the relief project to Chengdu. The relief flights were organized in cooperation with various governmental and social organizations, such as the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Shenzhen Airlines, Huawei Technologies and Guangxi Provincial Government. In total Jade Cargo International has operated eight relief flights so far and more domestic flights are in preparation.
In addition to the relief operation out of China, the first international relief flight by Jade Cargo International from Europe non-stop into Chengdu is planned in the next days.
The total tonnage of aid materials transported by Jade Cargo International has been more than 780 tons so far: Three flights from Shenzhen, four flights from Tianjin and one flight from Nanning all going to Chengdu Airport in the heart of the disaster stricken Sichuan Province.
Cpt. Kay Kratky, the Chief Executive Officer of Jade Cargo International: “We feel very sorry for the people and families in those disaster areas. With our transport capability of our large B747-400ER freighters, Jade Cargo International is assisting as much as possible the local relief efforts.”
Mr. Su Xiufeng, Executive Vice President Finance & Accounting: “In such critical times, a quick response is essential to support the rescue efforts in the region. With our dedicated team of professionals, we managed to set up the flights in a very short time. Jade Cargo International was supported from all sides and usually longer applications have been shortened to a few hours. This flexibility by the governmental agencies helped to make this large relief operation possible. We are committed to keep up our efforts in the next days and try facilitating as many flights as possible.”
Jade Cargo International has not only operated relief flights into the disaster area: in an ad-hoc donation collection Jade Cargo International staff raised a large amount of donation for disaster relief organizations.
