Lufthansa Cargo and Jade Cargo International extend their cooperation Print

Lufthansa Cargo and Jade Cargo International are extending their cooperation from 30 March 2008, when the summer timetable goes into effect. Lufthansa Cargo will then be responsible for marketing the airfreight capacity of its Sino-German cargo subsidiary on routes from Europe to Asia. The Blocked Space Agreement (BSA) will apply to all Jade Cargo International’s routes ex Europe and will be valid throughout the forthcoming summer timetable and the 2008/2009 winter timetable. Under the terms of this new cooperation agreement, the successful marketing and sales partnership between Jade Cargo International and Swiss WorldCargo will be transferred to Lufthansa Cargo.

Dr. Andreas Otto, Lufthansa Cargo Executive Board member responsible for Product and Sales commented: “Taking over Jade’s capacities ex Europe will enable us to expand our services and offer our customers attractive, direct flights from major economic centres in Europe to the flourishing Pearl River Delta region and the commercial metropolis of Shanghai.“

Kay Kratky, Chief Executive Officer of Jade Cargo International, which is based in Shenzhen in South China, noted: “After the delivery of its sixth Boeing 747-400ERF, Jade Cargo International has now completed its fleet expansion as planned. The integration of Jade Cargo International’s capacities into Lufthansa Cargo’s product portfolio on European routes will give our customers access to an extensive network. On routes to Asia, Jade Cargo International – operating under the umbrella of the Lufthansa Cargo Group – will be able to offer non-stop flights on routes that were previously only served indirectly via the Frankfurt hub.”

Jade Cargo International currently flies to Shenzhen and Shanghai Pudong from Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brescia, Luxembourg and Stockholm. From Shenzhen, Jade Cargo International provides connections to the Asian economic centres of Osaka and Seoul. As part of the capacity expansion, Frankfurt and Chinese Tianjin Airport will be integrated into Jade Cargo International’s route network.

Jade Cargo International is jointly owned by Shenzhen Airlines, which has a 51 per cent stake, Lufthansa Cargo (25 per cent) and DEG – Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (24 per cent). Following delivery of the final aircraft in January 2008, Jade Cargo International’s fleet now comprises six Boeing 747-400ER freighters.
